Arch chair is an exercise in building a statically strong shell chair from thin metal sheets: 0,75 mm steel plates.
Being a tribute to the arch, this chair is bent by hand with an old and forgotten compress technique, that stabilizes and strengthens the thin steel plate. The chair is double-curved, consisting of its two-dimensional arches, as well as bent edges. The forces are distributed over the entire shell surface, where pressure occurs on the inside and tension on the outside.
